Information about Ella

I am an enthusiastic, engaging and patient tutor, who specialises in preparing students for entrance exams and interviews. As well as focussing on these specific academic goals, I concentrate on building confidence in each student. I aim to inspire a fun and engaging approach to classes: finding methods to suit each individual student’s strength and weaknesses. I also have experience working with children with dyslexia to help with general learning techniques.

After attending a top London school, I went on to gain a scholarship for Brighton College, where I was a straight A student, before graduating from Exeter University.

I also work as an actor and my creative nature allows me to find imaginative solutions to problems. I love discovering a way of learning that works best for each child, striving to create an environment that is open and relaxed, where a student can feel confident to explore topics and ask questions.

With years of tutoring experience, I have helped multiple students achieve their individual learning goals and gain entrance into top schools in and around London.

Experience: September 2016 - June 2019 : Torchlight Tuition (London)

Teaching; English (KS1 - GCSE), Maths (KS1 & KS2) & Exam preparation (7+ - GCSE)

I tutored up to 10 children, of mixed ages and ability, in weekly 1-to-1 sessions to achieve specific goals. From assisting with homework and building confidence, to working on specific challenges or revising topics in preparation for examinations, including past paper work and interview techniques. All of the students worked with went on to gain places in schools of their choice.

September 2014 - August 2016: Exam Confidence (London and the South East)

Teaching; English (KS1 - GCSE), Art & Cultural studies

I worked with a severely dyslexic girl, who recently moved to London from Portugal, to prepare her for her English GCSE. I took her from a predicted U, to a C grade in her exam, which allowed her to achieve the grade needed to gain a place at her desired college. I also taught English and Cultural Studies, as well as tutoring art to a student alongside her academic studies.

September 2013 - Present : School of Comedy
