Information about Samuel

I have been tutoring GCSE maths since November 2015. I firmly believe that anyone can learn maths, it is not about skill but confidence with numbers.
I believe that there is no "one way" to teach or learn maths, every student will have their own unique view and understanding of this fascinating subject.
I have used this flexible approach to help my students to reach their full potential using varying techniques and teaching methods to achieve the desired results.
I will also be available for tutoring the Warwickshire 11-plus, during the school day for home educated children, and the year 6 SATs.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: I have achieved an A* level in A level maths in 2013 and also have A* in GCSE maths. I studied a maths degree for one year at Cardiff University but I found that the structure of University studies was not for me. Since then I have been travelling and studying different subjects, sometimes paying my way through maths tutoring. My experience of maths tuition has taught me that I can adapt to any learning style. I can help push the high achievers to accomplish their dream grades, and I can guide those who struggle most to achieve a pass, allowing them the option to pursue their respective careers at college or sixth-form.
Being able to teach effectively requires a relationship to be built between student and teacher. This is difficult to do in a class of 30, however in one-to-one sessions it is possible to realise rapid results.
Making students more positive about their maths learning is the crucial step. I achieve this by helping students to understand their strengths and weaknesses which enables them to overcome their personal learning barriers.
Confidence is also a key factor in tracking and achieving progress. I strive to develop my students so that they become more sure of themselves as they tackle practical mathematical problems.
