Information about Jaiven
Hi, my names Jaiven. I`ve just finished studying a Masters degree in Maths at the University of Surrey. I enjoy solving problems and challenging myself to do things I`ve never done before. Some of my interests are sports, listening to music and playing brain games.
Availability: Mondays - mornings/afternoon

Experience: I`ve worked at a tuition company that focused on Maths and English for 7 years. The members were aged 4-16 years old and their work ranged from reception all the way up to GCSE. The company works very closely with the National Curriculum so im very knowledgeable in this area especially the methods used in schools.
I have private tutored for around 5 years, working with various students at different levels from Primary school to A Levels. I am up to date with the curriculum in all levels including KS3 and GCSE.
My main focus when tutoring is to ensure that I tailor my tuition to the individuals needs. The only way they can get the best out of tuition is if the tutor knows their strengths and weaknesses. The individual also has to be able to identify their strength and weaknesses and this is something I like to build in my students. Understanding doesn`t only come from teaching a method but it comes from the way it`s put across, patience and time. These are the things I`ve managed to learn on my journey as a tutor.
Ofcourse, content knowledge is a huge part of successful tuition. I`m keen on constantly updating and refining my knowledge on the National Curriculum and syllabus.
Finally, I`ve learnt that it`s always great to spice up learning and make it as interesting as possible, which is why I like to use lots of interactive methods of tuition.

Jaiven is a great tutor. He is good at breaking things down to make them easier to understand. Starting from the very beginning of a topic, he tends to take a step back explaining key terminology before moving on to problems, which increases the speed of the learning process overall, because you have a reminder of the key concepts. Sessions are well-organised - Jaiven prepares all material you will need prior to the lesson, according to any requests you have in terms of topics, types of questions you would like to cover, etc. However if you`re unsure what exactly you want to do he will gladly help you pick a topic and will guide you through it to cover all you need and even further if you wish. In addition to tutor sessions themselves, Jaiven can set homework if you ask him to do so, and he is happy to offer help via email if you have a question or are stuck, be it schoolwork you need to catch up on, revision, or homework. He can also code pdf files with questions/solutions and send them to you, if you prefer to check your own workings. For those wishing to study maths at A-level or university, Jaiven can give some valuable insight and advice, having followed that route himself. What I like especially is that Jaiven is down-to-earth and easy to talk to. He makes it `safe` to make mistakes, which has proven to be very effective at encouraging me to be more active than in class or with other tutors I had. He puts you at ease and lets you feel like you`re perfectly capable of doing what you need to.

Brilliant tutor! Taught my son maths. My son really liked Jaiven and felt like he could relate to him which made the lessons much more enjoyable. Extremely patient and very good at explaining and understanding my sons needs. Considering my son absolutely hates maths he never moaned once about having a lesson which was amazing! I Would highly recommend Jaiven!
