Information about Malikah

I have graduated from City university of London in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and I am also currently studying to earn my TEFL certificate and will aim to earn my QTS and become a teacher in the next few years of my life as this is my passion. I have also been working as a controls engineer for 2 years now.

Maths has always been in my life and there are times that I absolutely enjoyed it and other times where it was very overwhelming for me especially being in a male dominated class for most of my schooling and degree. However, maths is definitely more than just an academic subject and that`s why I want to show my students that it really is something that will be used in your personal and professional life and will be always be in the background in many professions and careers. Working hard to gain a strong base in maths will make you thank yourself later in life and I am here to help you achieve that.

In my first lesson with my student, I like to first identify the areas that need to be focussed on and then work together on them step by step until the pupil gains the confidence and knowledge to fully attempt it themselves. I structure the areas of focus through a lesson plan agreed on with the student and set homework accordingly to always keep the mind fresh and active for the topic being studied. The aim is to get the student to their target grade.

Overall, my approach to tutoring is to build confidence and practice as much as possible! Improvement is made with mistakes along the way and as long patience and the willingness to improve is there, anything can be achieved.
