Information about Karen

Although I now reside in the Hove, I have lived in both Hong Kong and Singapore, working at some of the worlds top schools. My work is also my hobby and being a trained SENDCo means there is always much to learn about neurodiversities. Between my work, my dog and my family, there`s not a huge amount of extra time! I am an avid reader, traveller and I love to scuba dive when I have the opportunity.

Willing to travel: 1 miles

Experience: I am a highly professional educator who has been teaching for over 20 years. My journey into education began in the primary years, where I became an expert literacy teacher.

I have taught in state schools, independent schools and international schools, giving me a broad base from which to draw engaging and relevant content for my lessons today. Having had the opportunity to teach in different education systems (IB, EYFS, NC) gives my teaching a depth of understanding that goes beyond traditional teaching.

During my time teaching at an international school (British based) in Hong Kong, I was quickly promoted to SENDCo and supported many students with a diverse range of needs including dyslexia, ASC, ADHD and dyscalculia.

On returning to the UK, I took up the post of Head of Learning Development at Windlesham House prep and boarding school, attained a Level 4 dyslexia award and the National Award for Special Educational Needs. I was also part of a group who ran the ISEB pre-Tests for the school giving me a sound background knowledge and understanding of the key elements, skills and knowledge required for 11+ entry.

I now specialise in supporting students with dyslexia or students who are struggling with literacy and early mathematical concept where I offer a multi-sensory, structured phonics approach for reading and a highly specialised approach to maths and writing which gets great results.

I also offer 7+ all subjects and 11+ reading and writing lessons with 100% track record of 1st choice of schools.
