Information about Farhana

I have extensive experience in tutoring which started initially only based on referrals and recommendations from peers and teachers, which has allowed me to help many students achieve beyond their predicted grades in GCSE Mathematics, Science and English and A-Level Mathematics since 2014.

I have recently graduated from my undergraduate degree in Mathematics, and I am now studying my PhD in Mathematics Education. Part of my role as a PhD student is tutoring anyone who seeks mathematics support at university, regardless of their academic background.

I have had the opportunity to teach mathematics as a student teacher during my college years and have undertaken various teaching internships at secondary schools. I have also lead PASS (peer-assisted study sessions) for first-year mathematics degree students during my second and third year at university, for which I was highly commended.

Having experience in helping many people of different academic ages, I am able to understand more deeply the challenges different people face when trying to learn. An example of this is students engaging in self-sabotaging behaviours such as procrastination.

The focus of my PhD research is increasing student engagement with mathematics support. Therefore, I can dedicate the my time and various teaching resources (including notes and PowerPoint slides where applicable) to ensuring anyone can get past the initial barriers preventing them from reaching their academic goals.

Availability: I am available from 12-8, Monday-Friday.
