Information about Sarah
I am a fully qualified primary school teacher and since 2008 I have specialised in one-to-one tutoring for the Gloucestershire Grammar Schools 11+ tests. I also prepare children for 11+ Common Entrance tests and 11+ Scholarship tests. I offer sessions for children from Year 3 to Year 6. The younger the children, the more low-key the approach; my Year 3/4 pupils are often unaware that they are preparing for the 11+.
I teach from my own home in central Cheltenham, where I have a large and adaptable library of teaching resources (as well as easy, off-street parking for parents). My teaching style is engaging and child-centred, whilst being supportive and esteem-building. I use a variety of incentives and rewards to inspire and motivate.
Availability: I offer fixed weekly lessons (of varying length depending on your child`s age) both after-school and on Saturdays. During the school holidays I offer a flexible timetable, on days and times to suit, as frequently as parents would like. Some parents choose to take a break during the school holidays. I dont ask for lessons to be paid for either in advance or in blocks. And I never charge for occasional missed lessons, as I know that this is an unavoidable consequence of family life.
During the summer holidays I offer small-group 11+ revision courses specifically for Year 5 children who arent already being taught by me.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I am a fully qualified primary school teacher with extensive classroom experience. I initially started tutoring alongside full-time school teaching, but I now specialise exclusively in 11+ tutoring. I have been offering 11+ tutoring in Cheltenham since 2008. Prior to this I was a classroom teacher in London (Archdeacon Cambridge School, Garden House School and Newland House School). I have three children of my own; two at university and one at school. My eldest son was offered a place at Pate`s Grammar School eight years ago and is now studying PPE at Queen`s College, Oxford and my daughter is studying medicine at New College, Oxford.
Having carefully and sensitively identified your child`s individual strengths and weaknesses, I will equip your child with the knowledge, strategies and self-confidence that they will need in order to fulfil their potential; frequently exceeding all expectations.

Feedback For Sarah (8)
Sarah has quickly built rapport with our daughter, who is really enjoying her weekly sessions. Sarah is adept at motivating our child, and excellent at explaining new concepts and approaches to support learning.
Really good tutor. Excellent feedback from my child and good structure for the session.
Sarah is a great tutor, patiently explains and answers all the questions. Our son enjoys going to her classes and is very confident while doing his homework. We can only recommend her to anyone interested.
We contacted Sarah regarding 11+ tuition. She made the process incredibly simple, assessing our son first before explaining the best way forward. We have found her to be both flexible and approachable and we feel lucky to have found her. My son really looks forward to his tuition sessions with Sarah and is highly motivated with the homework tasks set each week. We can`t recommend highly enough.
My son met Sarah and in my opinion she`s a thoughtful and encouraging teacher. He likes her and will learn well with her towards his 11 + I believe.
Sarah is an amazing tutor and my son has gained a lot of confidence since be started his tuition.
Sarah gave our son excellent support, really understanding him. As well as supporting him academically, she boosted his confidence and definitely "got" him and his needs. His exam results were great and we feel her guidance and tailored care really made a difference. Even if they had not been, her care and thoughtfulness would have made a huge difference to him as a learner and person. A great educator.
Very organised and had good strategies to keep my son interested and engaged.
