I am currently employed at Bridgewater High School in Warrington on a 0.8 contract. Bridgewater is an extremely successful school which was graded as outstanding in a recent Ofsted inspection. I have played a very active role in the schools journey to secure its outstanding status and this has been evident through my many classroom observations. My passion for my subjects and high expectations has enabled me to successfully engage students and instil in them self- confidence and belief in their ability. Throughout my time in my current post I have delivered a variety of subjects including Business Studies
A ‘Level and GCSE, Travel and Tourism A ‘Level and GCSE, ICT GCSE and Economics A ‘Level.

As a classroom practitioner I am able to implement a variety of learning and teaching styles. I believe that an outstanding teacher has to have the flexibility and innovation to be able to engage every learner and encourage an active learning style to ensure that good progress in made in every lesson. My responsibilities have included establishing and implementing effective schemes of work, marking policies and teaching strategies in my curriculum area and working as part of a team in order to ensure that the department updates its resources and learning initiatives effectively to meet the needs of individual students. As part of my professional development I have attempted to ensure that I am constantly updating myself to current educational issues and changes in the curriculum which enable me to contribute in the developing of teaching resources in an effective and innovative manner. This has without doubt contributed to my department to consistently achieve very good results at both KS4 and KS5 and ensuring that students make very good progress at both key stages

Experience: I am a very experienced teacher with a proven track record of success in my subject. Until September 2012 I held the post of Assistant Head of the Sixth Form at Bridgewater High School. My wide variety of responsibilities included target setting for sixth form students. I developed a departmental system which involves reviewing student progress, setting targets using the ALIS and ALPS systems. As an experienced teacher I recognise the importance of encouraging post 16 students to make a smooth transition from compulsory education and to ensure that they receive a meaningful education that will also provide them with the necessary skills for life. I am given the opportunity to experience the journey from key stages 3 and 4 with the students and facilitate the transition into KS5 and sixth form life. I am able to empathise with individual students and ensure that their needs are catered for helping nurture their self belief and instilling the confidence that with hard work and determination they can succeed . I have been able to play a vital role in this transition through my pastoral responsibilities. My responsibilities have included developing a tutorial programme for year 12 and 13, co-ordinating and contributing to college events such as the induction programme , and helping to co-ordinate a curriculum enrichment programme for all students. I believe that the sixth for experience should be full and varied giving students the necessary life skills for the future.
