Information about Tim

I grew up in Wiltshire and as a father of two, have a great passion for writing, teaching and learning, which is reflected in my career to date.

After graduating from Winchester with a 2:1 in History and English, I completed a post-grad and have since worked as a tutor, professional coach, writer, corporate trainer, agent and actor.

As a tutor and full member of The Tutors` Association, I specialise in 11+, GCSE English, Drama and History plus KS2 numeracy and literacy. Currently I tutor 11+ on Saturday mornings and primary school Years 2 - 6 on some weekdays.

Calling on my rich experience as trainer and writer (and father!), I aim to offer a patient, practical and meticulous path to learning - building confidence by inspiring my students to enjoy their work and most importantly, to succeed at exam time.

As well as tutoring GCSE English students to success, I also coach various communication skills to clients including The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, HM Treasury, FCO Services, HMGCC, HMRC and The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. My work as a coach frequently involves one-to-one sessions with my delegates, in which I constantly seek effective and innovative new ways to fulfil their potential.

Before going freelance, I worked as a corporate trainer, devising and delivering courses all over the world for a leading ticketing and marketing software house. Again, much of the teaching was one-to-one and frequently involved boiling down complex and detailed subjects into intuitive, practical and example-led content, according to the level and learning preferences of the client.

I am a performed playwright and BBC scri ptwriter - ongoing. I have had several plays produced on BBC Radio 4 and have written for `Doctors` (BBC1). Last year, my stage piece, THE RETURN OF THE SOLDIER was produced at Jermyn Street Theatre, London SW1 and received 4 star **** reviews from The Times and The Stage. A new work is due to premiere during October 2015. I am also currently undertaking work as a professional copywriter, a area for which I have an extensive portfolio.

Thank you for reading my profile. I hope I can assist you with your tutoring requirements.

Best wishes,

Tim

I have already recommended Tim to a friend and I have been very pleased with his approach to my child.
My son is keen to attend the sessions and says "Tim makes learning fun"
