Information about David

I have an undergraduate level qualification in Pure Mathematics from the Open University (pass with Distinction), as well as A-Level Mathematics (grade A). I also possess a BSc degree from Cardiff University.

I have recent tutoring experience, having worked with GCSE students on a one-to-one basis. I believe it is vital not only to enable pupils to solve problems independently and to gain confidence in their abilities, but also to foster true understanding of the material, so that they gain a genuine interest in the subject. All sessions were tailored to the needs of the individual pupils, recognising that different people learn in different ways.

Patient and understanding, I rapidly built a strong rapport with the students, meaning that they felt able to communicate their difficulties, so effective learning could take place. During lessons, we worked through plenty of examples, giving pupils belief in themselves, and allowing them to realise that mathematics is nothing to be afraid of.

I have worked in the scientific field for five years, delivering services for a large analytical chemistry company.

Availability: Weekdays, evenings and weekends.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I have six months` experience of one-to-one home tuition for GCSE Mathematics. I have worked with students of varying ability levels, from those who are hoping to get a grade C, to those who are aiming to achieve an A*. My rate of client retention indicates that the pupils and parents are satisfied with the quality of service that I provide.

I have also participated in a voluntary programme, which entailed going into schools and providing one-to-one and small group tuition during sessions which took place after the end of the school day. The objective was to help students who were on the C/D grade boundary to achieve the higher mark. The fact that I was invited back to contribute on a second occasion demonstrates my reliability and level of commitment to this undertaking.
