Information about May
As a kind and patient English and History Tutor, with 14 years experience in education. This has given me a wealth of experience and a deeper understanding of young people, and the difficulties they face through their education and learning.
Every student is unique and learns at a different pace. Education is more than what is in your textbook, it is about exploring the possibilities. I try to ignite this enthusiasm into our lessons. I have pushed the boundaries of knowledge with my students, helping them to think differently about how and why the author as written their work in a particular way. What impact does this have on the reader, and why is it important?
It is my job, to help your child, reach their potential, I am a firm believer in praise and through positive encouragement, this can be achieved.
I have up-to-date knowledge on all the different syllabuses and the Examining boards AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC from Primary KS2, Y4-6. To Secondary KS3 - GCSEs. Y7-13. (From Dickens to analysing poetry or medieval medicine, to Stalin and the cold war).
I seem to have become quite an expert in Teaching, Tutoring and coaching students, through their Preparatory 7 -11+ & 16+ School entrance exams and interviews. All students I have worked with were accepted, into their chosen school. (Nottingham and Leicester High School. Oundle, Sevenoaks, Northbourne, The Kings School and Gordonstoun).
