Hello there, my name is Chantelle and I’m a 6th year medic at University of Cambridge, with a specialist interest in Paediatrics. I studied Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths and German at A-Level and achieved A*,A,A*,A*,A, respectively. I also sat the 11+, UKCAT and BMAT for my Secondary School and University, respectively.

Experience: Tutoring Experience

I have many years experience working with children, having tutored previously in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and English (both Language and Literature) at GCSE level, and Maths at all levels of Secondary School over the last 8 years, mostly in my home town of Grantham. I love working with children / young adults and seeing how they learn to love a subject as their understanding improves. Seeing them work hard to achieve their goals and also enjoy a subject they perhaps find challenging is so rewarding.

Tutoring Approach

When working with children / young adults, I think it is exceptionally important to adapt each tutoring session to the individual’s needs. Everyone is different and has a different way of learning. Some are more visual learners, others prefer practicing exam questions, and others learn by repeatedly saying or writing down topic areas again and again. I really aim to get to know the individual I work with and work with them to find the best learning technique for them. I also believe confidence is key for understanding material and also doing well in exams so I focus on helping my students enjoy and learn to love a subject even if they find it difficult. We will also practice and repeat key exam questions / topics so that they become accustomed to completing the questions accurately and within the time allowed. Lastly, I am very open with how I like to teach and, although I have my own ideas, am very open to others too. We all have the common aim of helping the individual achieve their goal, and I will strive to ensure this happens and ensure that they enjoy the process as well because I believe in lifelong learning and it should be fun!
