Information about Louise

I have worked as an artist for many years, as well as working within business management. Last year I got my official teaching PGCE at Level 7 through IOE which is part of UCL university.

I am available to tutor you calmly and ensure that new processes and tasks are delivered in the most suitable way. I always plan accordingly so i can always plan for all of your needs, goals. Please just ask if there is anything you would like to learn within the arts!

Students, if you are behind on coursework, i can help you to get through this.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I have worked within the arts for several years, as an artist and now as a teacher specialising in Fine Art. For the last year I have been working at City and Islington Sixth Form in the Visual Arts Department teaching Fine Art. I have also been studying for my PGCE post compulsory (level 7) at the Institute of Education in North London, this is currently the number one teaching institute in the world. I have had exceptionally good feedback and observation reports throughout the year. I have been teaching year 12 students, but I have experience of teaching art from primary age upwards

I can create, plan and then deliver an excellent range of art lessons suitable for all students, fully inclusive of all differentiated learning needs. I believe that being adaptable as a teacher is an extremely important factor within the classroom, and I always plan so that I can incorporate and adjust if needed. Within the classroom, I always try to provide a nurturing learning environment so that all my students feel relaxed and so far, I have had incredibly good outcomes. I feel that teaching comes very naturally to me and I am very calm within the classroom. I really do enjoy teaching and have built up a good rapport with all of my students,

I have previously worked within SEN delivering creative workshops/art therapy for a community art centre called Art Box which is based near Kings Cross, working with students of all ages who have various disabilities such as Downs Syndrome, Deafness and Autism. I have a particularly good understanding of ensuring that the level of work is accessible for all, allocating extra time or assistance wherever needed, incorporating scaffolding into my teaching. I have been able to communicate through art, connecting with those students who are unable to talk at all or have extremely high anxiety. At the end of each workshop, I encouraged students to show their work in any way they felt able too, celebrating as a whole giving praise- this has been very well received.

I have also delivered lessons at a primary school to students who have physical disabilities, some unable to speak or suffering with conditions such as severe epilepsy or breathing conditions. Again, I planned lessons suitable for the variety of differentiated learning needs within the class, creating small exhibitions at the end of each lesson to celebrate our work. Children were able to connect through using textures and colour.
