Information about Sara
I offer tuition up to GCSE, depending on the texts studied by the student. Having received effective teaching myself, I have noticed that the key to making concepts click in the student`s mind is a clear lesson structure, with plenty of activities to consolidate new ideas. I follow the individual`s own school curriculum side-by-side, so that topics covered in the classroom are always covered soon after by myself, and are therefore not forgotten. I use mock tests monthly/termly to assess the students progress and send detailed feedback to parents regularly.
My approach to essay-writing emphasises the importance of planning and having a solid structure. Before I was taught how to plan effectively, my ideas were not coherent as they were jumbled in my head, and a coherent essay is the key to gaining high marks. This isn`t something they always teach you in school however. I strongly believe with the right structure, anyone can produce a first class essay.
I only offer individual lessons as I believe this is the most effective method of teaching. Especially at a younger age, children learn at their own pace, so a change from the competitive school environment can be very beneficial for them.
Availability: I am free everyday as I am currently on a gap year.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring a variety of subjects for the last two years, including Maths (up to KS3), English (up to GCSE) and Psychology (A Level). Most recently, I ran an English crash course for Primary School students, focusing particularly on creative writing, comprehension and SPAG. At school, I mentored a Year 8 class and helped them with any subjects they were struggling with during form time, using the whiteboard to explain concepts in an enjoyable and clear manner. I was then selected to help a Year 10 on the spectrum with his GCSE subjects (History, English and French), as he was struggling to adjust to the jump from KS3.
