Hi Thank you for clicking on my profile! Let me introduce myself I`m Arya and I`m a Fourth year medical student at UCL and I`m currently undertaking a Masters in MSc Clinical Neuroscience as part of my overall Medical Degree.

I`m an experienced tutor who`s been teaching for over 4 years now. I`ve worked privately and I`m also the president of a university society that I started, providing educational support in underprivileged school around the London area.

My favourite thing about tutoring is having the opportunity to guide students into reaching their full potential. I incorporate the revision techniques that worked for me into my teaching because I have first-hand experience of how well they work. However, I understand people learn differently, for example, I`m a very visual learner but I`ve had students who learn better by listening or those that do by reading and rewriting the text so I try to tailor my tutoring style to each student whilst helping them find their preferred way of learning.

A common challenge I`ve encountered whilst tutoring are students who understand the content but have difficulties in memorising it, especially an issue in Biology and Chemistry when you need to know specific reaction pathways or the step by step PCR method, so I also concentrate on memory techniques such as the method of loci or the 1:2:3 flashcard method.

My father is a teacher and also an A-level examiner so I`m a strong believer in exam technique being very impactful on your final grade so I spend time throughout my lessons ensuring that the proper exam technique is implemented. By doing so, you can guarantee a students final mark is based more on their understanding of the content than anything else. I spend the first lessons going over a practice paper to understand where the student`s starting point is and creating a plan for the coming months.

Throughout the current Coronavirus crisis, I`ve been teaching online using a Wacom tablet along with a program called BitPaper, which is like writing on paper but we can both write in real time on an online whiteboard.

Having gone through the difficult medical application process, I`m well placed to give guidance and tutoring on every aspect from the UKCAT and BMAT to personal statements and interviews. During my application process, I scored a 7.9 8.0 5A on my BMAT and 860 overall on my UKCAT. My application for medicine was successful at Cambridge, KCL, UCL, and Imperial. Since then I`ve taught on the official Kaplan UKCAT courses.

Experience: I`ve been tutoring A-level subjects privately for the past 3 years with 14 of my students going onto to Russell group universities. I`ve helped over 30 students with their medical application process with 80% of my students receiving an offer at one of their medical school choices. I`ve taught at summer schools around oxford and on the Kaplan course for the UCKAT.
