My name is Sarah and I`m an enthusiastic, reliable and highly professional tutor with relevant qualifications and experience in both A level and primary level tuition. I qualified as a teacher in 1996 and have been teaching ever since.
My tutoring is based on individual needs and I get excellent results by inspiring confidence and building up a good relationship with those I teach.
I am experienced in teaching A level Sociology, Critical Thinking and Religious Studies and have been an examiner in all these subjects, enabling me to teach in an exam focused way. I have examined for both OCR and AQA examination boards.

I also tutor pupils for 11 plus entrance to Herts and Bucks schools, state, grammar and private. I have helped many pupils over the past five years and have testimonials available. I teach the skills required for the tests and focus on pupils developing speed and accuracy. I use a set of text books and test papers which parents do need to purchase.

I teach 1-1 or in small groups.

I like to meet and assess my pupils prior to teaching them so please do contact me to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet.

Reduced rates are offered to students who attend for a full academic year and who pay for sessions up front

Experience: Qualified teacher status since 1996. I have taught A level Sociology, A level Philosophy, Critical Thinking and Religious Studies in various schools and colleges, including Harrow and West Herts Colleges where I was Head of Philosophy and Head of Sociology. I have worked in state and private schools, for tutor agencies and have taught 1-1, small groups and large classes.

Part-time private tutor since 2005, full-time since 2011. I have successfully tutored many A level students, helping them achieve excellent grades. Most have exceeded their targets and gone on to university. Testimonials available.

I have tutored many pupils for the 11+ entrance tests in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, and received very positive feedback from parents regarding their final success in the tests. As well as regular practise in test papers, I also teach general literacy and numeracy skills where I see they need developing. This gives the pupils the ability to apply their knowledge in the tests without having to learn by rote, which additionally helps prepare them effectively for secondary school. I find that this approach is welcomed by parents as it is an all round teaching which increases confidence and basic skills essential for key stage 2 and beyond.
