Information about Sarika

Qualified English teacher with more than 12 years of teaching experience. A friendly and fun approach to learning with the ability to help learners make rapid progress within a short duration, this comes from expert experience in this field. I’ve tutored students who have achieved top grades in GCSE English Language and Literature as well as at A level. Over my career, I have taught in a number of exemplary schools including a Grammar school. I have been the head of A Level English and have a track record of achieving excellent results both at GCSE and A-Level.

My degree is in English Literature from Royal Holloway - University of London and I have a masters in the Sociology of Eduction from UCL with Distinction. The latter has enhanced my understanding of the ways in which writers explore class, gender and race within their works as well the contemporary debates around education and inclusion and the variance between perception and ability.

Prior to teaching I worked as a journalist for several years and this offers additional insight when it comes to the teaching of English.

My hourly rate reflects my experience as a professional, specialist knowledge and the quality of teaching that will be offered within the hour. Professionally my teaching grade is at expert level and my fees go in tandem with where I am as an educational practitioner.

All my resources are developed by me and include engaging powerpoints with a layered approach to learning and interesting extracts.

For GCSE and KS3 most of the texts are pretty standard and it is likely I will have taught them over my 12 years in education, however A level texts are more specific - and I would like to outline which texts I have taught at A-level, I am not adverse to teaching new texts but I would need to know the texts your child is studying for A level so I can let you know whether it is one I have read before and can teach immediately. The texts I can teach for A level English Literature with immediate effect "A Street Car Named Desire," "Journey`s End" "Birdsong" "Never Let Me Go" "Frankenstein" "A Passage to India" "Othello" "Hamlet" "Measure for Measure," "King Lear" "Jane Eyre" "Wuthering Heights" - anything from Jane Austen - I have read and taught other texts too and can accommodate more but like to be informed in advance so I can plan in advance.
