Information about Hannah

I came to Secondary School teaching following a Academic Research Career at UCL. I have a Ph.D in Immunology and went on to work as Postdoctoral Researcher in Infection and Immunity for 12 years. I enjoyed teaching M.Sc. Ph.D. and B.Sc students and this led me to consider a career in Secondary education to inspire the next generation of scientists. I gained a PGCE in 2017 and have been teaching at a local `outstanding` secondary school ever since. I have taught Biology KS3, GCSE (AQA) and A level (OCR) so am aware of the current requirements for success at all levels. I have loved my move to teaching secondary pupils, helping to support students with different learning styles, ambitions and personalities. Whilst I teach groups of students on a day to day basis I am also involved with one to one mentoring. I enjoy supporting students in their own journeys and seeing their determination and resilience grow and most of all seeing them develop a love for biology for which I share.

Availability: I am available most of the day on Thursdays and Fridays as well as Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: I have worked and studied biology at the highest level for many years (1997-2016). I studied for my Ph.D and developed a scientific career publishing papers in high impact journals. I have mentored and taught Ph.D. M.Res. and B.Sc. students and understand what is required to be successful at this level. I attained a PGCE in 2017 from the Institute of Education and have taught at a local Secondary School ever since teaching KS3, GCSE and A level Biology. I am proud to say I have seem many students go onto to be successful in their exams and develop their own independent learning strategies in order to be successful for the next step in their education.
