Information about Ruth
I am an Oxford University honours degree qualified teacher with over 20+ years of primary school teaching and private tutoring, including preparing pupils for 11+ exams and SATs. I have a wealth of experience of teaching primary pupils of all ages with a wide range of learning needs.
I specialise in preparing pupils for 7+, 10+, 11+ and KS2 SATs, as well as providing general tuition in English and Mathematics. I also have thorough subject knowledge in the teaching of phonics for reading and writing.
With private tuition and one to one teaching and learning, I believe it is paramount that the tutor is patient, understanding and kind and builds up a positive working relationship with the pupil in order to help them to succeed.
Availability: I now have some availability for the 2026 KS2 SATs and 2026/2027 11+ exams, both for grammar schools and private schools.
I am available for private tuition in English and Mathematics for pupils of any primary school age. Please note: I offer online lessons only, currently.

Ruth is an awesome teacher! My son really likes her. She is kind, encouraging and supportive during her lessons with a solid pedagogical background and a systematic methodology. Despite the fact that my son does not have English as first language and we live in a country with a different educational system, she willingly accepted the challenge of helping him with his weaknesses in the areas where he needs improvement.

Ruth was an excellent tutor for my daughter. She taught her for only six weeks in preparation for the 11+ examination, yet the lessons were extremely effective. Ruth was professional, easy to communicate with, and focused carefully on addressing my daughter’s areas of weakness. As a result of her support and guidance, my daughter successfully passed the exam.

Ruth helped my daughter with creative writing. Although my daughter had many ideas, she was hesitant to put them on paper. Ruth guided her to think them through, and with her support, my daughter’s writing improved greatly.
