I am a passionate, creative and highly motivated tutor. In my current role as an Academic Mentor in an outstanding secondary school, I provide high quality, exciting and innovative tutoring sessions for KS3 and GCSE English students.

As a music graduate, I am also able to tutor music theory, flute and piano playing to grade 8 ABRSM standard and GCSE and A-Level, or to any age student who wants to develop their playing and a love of music.

I am able to quickly establish and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of tutees, setting high expectations and presenting myself as a positive working role model. I have a wide range of experience working with students with various SEN needs, from challenging backgrounds and with behaviour difficulties.I have a caring, understanding and considerate attitude towards all my students.

I am passionate that all children, young people and adult learners should be able to engage positively with the subjects I tutor and develop a life-long love of learning through delivering high quality, innovative and exciting educational experiences.

Availability: Currently, evenings (excluding Tuesdays) and some weekend sessions.

From the summer holidays/September daytime sessions will also be available.

Experience: From my current role, I have an excellent working knowledge of the GCSE English curriculum and have successfully tutored over two hundred students in my care, helping improve critical skills such as: Spelling, punctuation and grammar
Analysing and interpreting texts (reading skills)
Extended creative writing
Question handling and response strategies
Essay structuring and writing.

I have devised and resourced individual and group learning programmes for KS3 and GCSE English students, regularly monitoring and reviewing their impact through assessment and review.

I have had experience teaching music in both small and larger group environments. I have taught and directed large ensembles such as choirs and orchestras, assisted in primary and secondary school music lessons, as well as teaching and accompanying individual pupils in instrumental lessons.
