Information about Tony
I am a trained secondary science teacher, with experience teaching overseas (2002-2006) and in this country (2006 onwards) from Year 7, through GCSE Science, up to final year A-level Biology. I enjoy personalising my lessons and adapting them to individual student`s needs, as everyone is different, has different strengths and weaknesses and preferred ways of learning. My experience includes the breadth of mainstream classrooms, alternative provisions outside of mainstream schools, home tutoring and PRUs mainly with secondary school age students. I am patient, genuine, kind, care about teaching and learning, and commit myself to helping students understand the subjects they want to learn more about.
Availability: Mainly available weekdays, during the daytime hours between school runs (two school age daughters and a full time wife!). From September I only currently have term-time daytime availability, as evenings and weekends are fully booked during the rest of the week. During school holidays I may have more negotiable availability.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: MA Natural Science (Cantab, 2001) PGCE 2007 (Secondary Science) teaching 2007- present in various forms, including secondary school teaching (Science including Biology A-level) and I am also experienced in teaching Key Stage 3 and 4 (GCSE) Maths, and A-level Maths. I currently teach Further Maths to several students, a qualification bridging the gap between GCSE and A-level Maths for more able students in Year 11. From September 2021-22 I am tutoring several former GCSE student A-level Chemistry, and am helping a couple of Year 12 students going into Year 13 with their Chemistry understanding and exam technique. More than half of my students are now solely online.

Only had a few sessions but so far very happy with preparation and communication. Will certainly continue.
My daughter has made a great start with Tony. She is enjoying his sessions very much.
Sought help for my son with Chemistry after a very low Year 10 exam result. Saw a big improvement very quickly and Tony was able to help out with Physics too when needed. Tony clearly knows his subjects and is quick to mark past papers and tackle any issues arising from them. Final GCSE result of AA in Double Science. Thank you Tony!
Our son has just achieved a strong C in his iGCSE Maths exam, thanks in large part to Tony. His thorough knowledge of the subject, great people skills, patience and calm were invaluable to our son who hated Maths and lacked confidence. Thanks Tony, a job brilliantly done.
Amazing!!!! Tony managed to get my son from an E grade in his maths GCSE to a C with almost perfect marks in a very short space of time. Most fantastic maths tutor ever!!! HIGHLY recommended. Thank you
Tony an excellent tutor. My son is already making good progress and understanding topics that previously he found difficult. Tony explains things clearly and checks my son understands each topic.
My son looks forward to his tutoring sessions. Thank you Tony.
Fantastic tutor! Really helped me focus on the exam technique that I struggled with as well as working with me to analyse past paper questions and my results so that I could work out my weaknesses and improve on them.
Happy in all respects. My son is making good progress and is confident about his physics. Tony has been understanding when we had to change lesson times unavoidably, at a couple of days` notice. Friendly and relaxed. Thanks, Tony. :)
