Information about Sarah

I am a student well-accustomed to tutoring pupils, eager to mentor GCSE students during this current Covid climate, assisting them to produce their best progress in time for their Exams in May-July.

Presently, having taken A-Level Exams, and passing GCSEs with flying colours - results of which you may look below - my recent experience of the latter qualifications is ample to teach Maths, Physics and Chemistry to other young individuals, on a one to one basis.

My story

Given target grades of C`s and Ds at the start of my time in year 7 at Secondary School, I knew this was not representative of what I could achieve and with continued passion and interest for my studies, I left with 8A*s and 1A GCSEs. The result of this was sole recognition by the `Chair of Governor`s Award for Outstanding Progress` of the Secondary School as well as a merit-based science scholarship going on to study A levels at an independent institution.

Having this experience, I believe that anyone can make substantial progress in their studies, and am offering methodology I used, to achieve such results.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: Qualifications aside, being appointed a STEM ambassador of my secondary school, helping children and young students with their Sciences and Maths GCSEs, whilst completing my own, I already have a significant depth of insight into the minds of a variety of students. Realising my ability, and growing reputation to tutor individuals, I focused my one-to-one tutoring efforts on a selected group of students for two years.

Hence, it comes as no surprise that a plethora of students across different years frequently came to me for help to explain concepts during GCSEs, as well as in-class times. This is an attribute to some of the clarity I shredded on many of fellow students studies during this period, and I wish to expand this quality through online tutoring.

My perspective on teaching

I take on an evidence-based approach to learning. This includes integrating active recall of concise, comprehensible information and fundamental principles, spaced repetition of questions, in turn to produce confidence and aptitude to tackle more complex problems. By aiming to impart this approach, this will provide my students with valuable studying techniques to pave way for greater efficiency in their future academic studies.

So, it is not only my job to act as a catalyst for the progression of a student`s work, but to also provide tools to further educational endeavours.
