Information about Cassie

HOME-BASED but currently ONLINE ONLY due to Covid restrictions. I am based on the Hampton borders, close to A316, A308 and M3. (Well located with off street parking and nearby supermarkets!)
I coach A level, GCSE, Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 2 Unusually, I have experience teaching all the age range, although upper key stage two and secondary are my main specialism. I have taught in several sectors and have tutored years 5,6,7,8,9,10,11 and A level for many years. Recent A level successes include two A* grades; one of these students had been predicted to attain a D grade, the other a C.
I am a highly experienced and fully qualified teacher and examiner. I taught English across the age range at the leading Hampton Boys `School for 14 years. I marked the Hampton School English entrance exam papers from 2001-2015. I’ve also worked in an all-girls’ school and in a leading, highly academic co-educational sixth form college in Surrey. Tutoring is a passion and it is very rewarding seeing students achieve more than they thought they could. I secure very high success rate for Eton, St Paul’s Boys’, St Pauls’ Girls’, Hampton, LEH, Tiffin Boys` and Girls`, Wycombe Abbey, Wellington, Whitgift, Trinity Boys`, Wallington Grammar, the Surrey and Buckinghamshire consortium groups of grammar schools and more.
I`m a highly experienced area leader for English Language and Literature A level. I can offer early morning and early afternoon classes for sixth formers and can help both Language and Literature sixth form A level students with their courses. I can give students far better one to one academic and pastoral attention than can be offered within many Colleges these days.As a former Language A level examiner, Literature and Language teacher an experienced form tutor, I know my stuff and how to help students attain the highest marks.
I have extensive experience of teaching primary age children in one to one settings (8-9 year olds). I have recently gained good successes with ESOL children of KS2 primary school age, boosting their literacy and grammar and encouraging their enthusiasm for English, improving their spoken English and helping them to prepare fro entrance exams at 11+ and 13+. I also specialise in coaching students for the English side of Tiffin`s entrance exams and have very good success rates. This year, 4/5 have reached stage 2 and all have received good school offers from the local grammars. I am a very experienced secondary school GCSE and A level teacher. I have also trained in adult education and am a very confident tutor of both adults and A level students. I teach from age 8 to adult! If there is a text, skill, exam board, entrance exam or coursework essay you are struggling with, I can help.

Experience: I am a fully qualified and highly experienced teacher with a B.A degree from Bristol and a Master’s from Bristol University, specialising in Shakespeare. After a successful full time school teaching career, I now tutor, which enables a wide age and ability range to master their English and move onto the next stage in their lives. I focus on one to one tuition. I also taught for 5 years at a leading Surrey sixth form College, teaching English Literature and Language at GCSE and A level. I also set up the English Language A level course in my first NQT year, with the first cohort gaining 100% A- C pass rate with 80% at A and B grades. Many of the students were paying adult learners whilst others were year 12 and 13. After 5 years teaching A levels and English GCSE resits, I spent a further 14 years (full time) teaching 11-18 years at the prestigious London independent school Hampton Boys`, in Hampton, Middlesex, teaching across the 11-18 age range. Hampton is a top HMC all-boys’ school. I also completed a very fulfilling year at The Abbey Girls` School, Reading, teaching ages 11-16.
I have therefore gained a huge range of teaching experiences, skills and resources and can relate well to all ages and types of student. At Hampton I was also a experienced lead teacher for English Language and Literature A level. I can help Language and Literature A level students with their courses and exam topics.
I can cover the entire academic age range, from KS2 students preparing for 8 plus, 10 plus, 11 plus, 12 plus, or Common Entrance, GCSE and A level.

Cassie is lovely, my daughter had a productive trial lesson with her, but unfortunately we live too far away to use her on a weekly basis.

Very good GCSE/IGCSE English teacher who explained things very clearly and in extremely good detail. Thank you very much.

Tutors Response :

Many thanks for your positive feedback. I really enjoyed teaching the Cambridge English IGCSE Literature and Language courses to this fantastic student, who worked hard and really improved, both in terms of essay style and overall confidence. I particularly enjoyed his sharp, perceptive discussions and coaching him the ‘Macbeth’ and poetry tasks. I wish him the very best for his IGCSES. A very bright future awaits!

Cassie was a great help to my son and very approachable. Although we only had time for four sessions, she gave him tips on exam technique to tackle his GCSE and helped him to consolidate his understanding of the texts.

Tutors Response :

Many thanks for your feedback; it is very much appreciated. I wish your son all the best in his forthcoming exams.
