Information about Jane
My lessons are tailored around you, the student.
The very first lesson is always getting to know each other, so we will cover lots of different areas of maths so that I can find out how I can specifically help you.
I will always have something planned based on the year that you are working in or level that you`re working at. Each lesson will begin with a new topic or follow on from the previous lesson`s work. Lots of textbook exercises will be practised and then, dependent on your year group, usually ends with exam questions.
Being in a large classroom, sometimes a student is uncomfortable to ask questions. Working with me, you are able to ask any maths question you want and even change the direction of the lesson - for example, maybe you want support with your homework or not understood the maths that day in class, or at work.
I enjoy working as private tutor as I am able to help pupils who have the ambition to become better mathematicians.
I live in the countryside, so when in the online classroom, you may sometimes hear the tractors driving past, or you may sometimes meet (or hear) my dog and two cats on screen!
Sign up now, so I can help you become a confident mathematician!

Experience: Mathematics (GCSE, KS2, KS3 and Adult learners)
I have been working as a 1:1 maths tutor since 2007 alongside my classroom teaching roles which have included experience of primary, secondary, independent and special schools. This wide ranging experience means I have worked with all ages, abilities and backgrounds including pupils with medical needs (eg. mental health and austistic spectrum), severe behaviour difficulties and non-English speakers. My present role involves teaching pupils who are medically unable to attend school and have therefore missed a lot of their education. By working in school groups, or 1:1 at their homes, the target is always to help pupils bridge the gap.
I build strong relationships, making young people feel at ease and have therefore tutored some families for several years. My knowledge and experience helps support pupils in their specifics areas of need, as well as boosting their confidence. I am familiar with the EdExcel, AQA and OCR GCSE examining boards, and twice yearly mark GCSE exam papers as an Assistant Examiner. I also work with pupils taking SATs, IGCSEs, functional skills and the teachers` numeracy skills test.
