Information about Sarah

Based in Blackburn and willing to travel.

A dedicated Primary School Teacher with experience teaching across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, now seeking to Tutor children who need extra support.

Working closely with teachers throughout my educational journey has allowed me to nurture my own love for learning which I hope to foster in the children I teach. I aim to have the ability to make a difference in students’ lives by sharing my existing knowledge and teaching the skills I have obtained during my teachings.
I am passionate about supporting the development of students and helping them progress with their studies. I have been recognised for my work in enhancing students learning experience, and I am skilled at developing new ways to encourage pupils, while challenging and inspiring them to deepen their knowledge and understanding.
The impact of teachers extends far beyond the class and I believe for children, it is a vital formative period in their lives. I aim to be able to make a positive difference by influencing students’ decisions, behaviours, strengths, imaginations and their love for learning.

Availability: I am available every evening Monday - Friday and all day on the Weekends.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: Higher Level Teaching Assistant – September 2021
I am currently working as a HLTA in a mixed class school within Lancashire. As a HLTA I support the class teacher and cover PPA for Years 3, 4 and 5. I work under the direction of the class teacher, planning, preparing and delivering an innovative curriculum for individual pupils, groups and whole classes so they may achieve success in line with the school vision, ethos and aims. As a HLTA I also assess pupils, record and report pupil progress.

Teaching Assistant – June 2021 to July 2021
I have worked as a teaching assistant in a Year 3 classroom. My roles and responsibilities include supporting children across the curriculum, with a particular focus on maths, reading and writing, giving extra help to children with special needs or those for whom English is not their first language, helping to develop programmes of learning activities and adapting appropriate materials, motivating and encouraging pupils, assisting with marking and correcting work, attending meetings and reviews and helping with school events, trips and activities.

PGCE with QTS – September 2020 to June 2021
First placement - Associate teacher in a vertical Year 1 and Year 2 class. My role in the classroom involved working alongside my mentor, effectively using the TA, observing outstanding practice and becoming increasingly involved in the planning and delivery of lessons both in class and remotely, in relation to DFE guidelines. Assessing learners both formatively and summatively on a daily, weekly and termly basis is another area in which I am heavily involved. I identified reading as a significant area for improvement in Key Stage 1 and worked with my mentor to implement a new reading scheme, which is now being used across all Key Stages.
In developing phases of my PGCE, planning, teaching, assessment and evaluation of my own teaching performance was completed for both core and foundation subjects. As the safety and mental health wellbeing of our children are a priority, my home school implemented a Kindness Matters 30 day project through lockdown. This was also a project I was involved in; I believe for schools to succeed in helping their students, promoting pupil wellbeing helps children to achieve better academically.

Second placement-
Associate teacher in a vertical Year 3 and Year 4 classroom. I have taught, planned, and evaluated several core and foundation subjects and I am confident that the skills I have obtained whilst observing and teaching will accompany me with future teachings. Throughout this placement, I also endeavoured to become involved, as a teacher, in the wider responsibilities associated with the role.
