Information about Safana
Hello! My name is Safana and I am an experienced English Secondary Teacher with over 5 years of tutoring experience. I specialize in teaching the AQA exam board and have helped many students excel in their exams. I have a Bachelor`s degree in English and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from a prestigious university.
I pride myself on being very friendly and patient as not every student is on the same level and some need more of an extra push than others. I understand the importance of catering to each student`s unique learning needs and using differentiated instruction to ensure all my students reach their full potential.
At times I can be quite enthusiastic and I always encourage my students to strive for top marks no matter what they have been told about their abilities. The brain can be trained to be smart, you dont have to be born that way and many of my students have proven that through hard work and determination.

Experience: I have been tutoring for 5 years now. I currently tutor Maths and English and A level English and Psychology to a number of students. In addition, I also tutor arabic studies and the Quran to some of my students. I believe that the best way for students to learn is through exam practise and familiarising themselves with such questions especially at GCSE and A level. In the lessons, after learning content I make sure that students always engage in practise questions - if not an entire question at least a part of it in order to consolidate their knowledge.
For GCSE, we work through one question a week for the language papers so that students are able to get near top marks and know what is expected of them in the real exam. I provide example essays and work for my students and other resources. For literature, we focus on their weakest section and plan for characters and themes to ensure that they have all the content for their real exam. For Maths, we work through question booklets before doing a topic test to ensure the student has completely understood the question. This will allow us to move on to the other topics. At the end of each month, students also complete a test so they can see their progress.
For A level, for English, most students will have adequate knowledge but will struggle to apply it hence we focus on essay planning and structuring. I provide essays of my own that have been graded by teachers at Brampton to give pupils an insight into the different structures they can use for top marks. For psychology, students will go through as much content as possible going in order of what paper the student finds to be their weakest. In the lesson they will be given a question sheet on the topic to complete for the next lesson to see their understanding of what they have learnt.
I have extensive knowledge of the AQA exam board and understand the format, marking scheme, and key areas of focus for each paper. I regularly set and mark mock exams, providing valuable feedback to my students, and tailoring my teaching to address any weaknesses they may have.
