Information about Rachel

I know the Psychology, and how to communicate it. I`ve been a qualified teacher for 25 years but I`ve come to Psychology more recently, so I am really up to date with the theories, studies, and the exam requirements.

I`ve tutored many many students over the years, and love working with people who want to do their best, whether they`re aiming for an A* or working really hard to get that C grade that they need.

A few hours of 1:1 tuition is so worthwhile: I can help you with those areas you`re confused by, and give you valuable exam tips, which will improve your confidence and enable you to maximise those marks!

If you want me to teach you the whole of AS or A2 psychology, I could do that too. I taught GCSE Science and Maths to students not in school for a few years, and they achieved some amazing grades.

I am a bit of an expert in Research Methods and Statistics, so I have also helped Psychology undergraduates and Education Masters students get their heads round SPSS, and I also love dissertation editing or proof-reading.

As for Maths GCSE, we will quickly identify and focus in on the bits you find difficult. The most important thing is boosting your confidence so you don`t have that panicky feeling and you know you can tackle anything. 1:1 tuition, with lots of practice with real GCSE questions, is the best way. I can help you think positively about Maths as well as understanding the Maths itself!

Availability: I`m currently waiting for the right permanent job to come up, and in the meantime I`m available pretty much any time. I`m happy to teach in my home or yours, or to meet somewhere near college (the Discovery Centre in Winchester is good, or somewhere equivalent near your college)

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I was a Science and Maths teacher on and off for 20 years, then followed my dream and took a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology at Winchester Uni in 2013. I loved it and got a distinction. I then became a Psychology teacher, and worked for a year at Alton College, and this year at Peter Symonds College. I also mark AS and A2 Psychology for AQA, so I know what the examiners are looking for.
