Information about Sarah
A qualified English teacher in the UK, I offer online tuition services for GCSE English students and professionals who are learning English. I have a wealth of teaching experience in the community, in schools and in further education settings, and I have worked with a range of children, young people and adults throughout my career.
I teach using a range of real-life resources from TED talks to music lyrics, bringing English language and literature study to life. I inspire my learners to achieve their goals, providing clarity and support from the very first lesson. I am a friendly and warm person and will work with you or your child to tailor lessons to your needs.
I live in Coventry with my partner and our two children. In my free time I enjoy walking with our dog, Pebble, reading and going to the theatre.
Availability: My general availabilty is all day Monday and evenings Monday-Thursday, but please contact me to find out which slots are currently available, or to request a slot outside of these times.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have been teaching English for 3 years, having completed my PGDE Futher Education and Skills teacher training at Warwick University. I also have a first-class honours degree in English Language and Literature.
Teaching GCSE English Language re-sits in a further education college gave me the skills to support students to achieve a pass grade through tailored lesson plans and targeted intervention. I now use this knowledge to support students online to build their confidence and to achieve the best grades possible in both their English Language and Literature exams.
I also teach English as a second language and specialise in supporting GCSE students who don`t have English as their first language. I understand the additional challenges that this can bring and help to identify and fill in the gaps in knowledge and understanding, applying ESL teaching techniques to the GCSE curriculum.
I offer 11 or group tuition and I am developing a range of online courses (with email, phone or video-call support) which will allow you to study at your own pace, at a time and place that suits you.
