Job overview:
I provide quantitative and qualitative research methods support to students. I also offer study skills support, assignment marking and feedback. I do this both remotely and face to face. I also offer support across a range of psychology topics at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The mental health side of the work includes supporting student with autism, anxiety, schizophrenia and depression through undergraduate and postgraduate studies. This can be home based mentoring, online or institution-based support. Currently I support students in London and surrounding areas.

I spend a lot of time helping students with dyslexia. This is developing writing techniques, time planning and management, essay interpretation, planning and general study skills. I also provide coping and anxiety strategies for the students. I have developed this through my own means of attending conferences, online research, learning from colleagues and mentors in the profession. I have also developed my understanding of dyslexia and strategies through the teaching and mentoring experiences over the past few years.

During my MSc at the university I was employed to aid the undergraduate module teams with supporting the seminar delivery of research methods and introduction to psychology modules for first year students. This would include, APA writing, using SPSS, ethics in research, the development of psychology as a science and statistical analysis techniques. Additionally, I helped the module team mark the research methods and introduction to psychology first year assignments.

Furthermore, during the second semester I was asked to co-teach an applied clinical sport psychology module taking exercise psychology and integration lectures for 3rd year students and co-assessment with the module leader. ;; This role has developed into supporting the technical side of the department with research methods for both undergraduate and postgraduate provision during my MPhil/ PhD. Moreover, I also supported the delivery of research methods to child and adolescent health and allied health modules.

The role developed into individual support for students with visual impairment, dyslexia, autism and other learning needs. I provided one to one tutorial and mentoring sessions using various methods of assistive technology to help the students with their studies. This included some additional in-house training on dyslexia and autism mentoring and assistive technology. I supplemented this knowledge of dyslexia with my own online research, attending additional conferences and reading online through the duration of the role.
