I am an experienced Mathematics tutor specialising in GCSE and A-Level, with 10 years of tutoring experience and over 6,000 hours of one-to-one teaching.

Over the years, I have helped students of varying abilities make significant improvements in both their grades and confidence. My students have achieved excellent GCSE results, including Grades 8–9, and I have supported students in making substantial progress from their starting grades.

My approach is friendly, patient and highly tailored to each student. I believe that students perform at their best when they genuinely understand the mathematics rather than simply memorising methods. I therefore focus on identifying gaps in knowledge, strengthening core concepts and explaining difficult topics in a clear and relatable way.

As students approach their exams, I place a strong emphasis on exam technique, past-paper practice, recognising common question types and learning how to approach unfamiliar problems confidently. Lessons are adapted according to the student`s current level, target grade and individual areas of difficulty.

I have experience teaching students in one-to-one tuition, homeschooling and college environments, which has allowed me to work with a wide range of learning styles and abilities. Whether a student is struggling with the fundamentals, aiming to move up several grades, or already performing highly and working towards a Grade 8/9 or A/A*, I tailor my teaching accordingly.

One of the most rewarding parts of tutoring for me is seeing a student go from believing that they are simply “not good at Maths” to approaching questions with confidence and independence.

My experience extends beyond private tuition and includes both homeschooling and teaching within a college environment. This has given me extensive experience adapting my teaching to different learning styles, academic abilities and individual needs.

Results & Progress

I have a strong track record of helping students achieve excellent results, with many of my students attaining Grades 8–9 (A–A*) at GCSE.

However, I believe progress should always be measured against the individual student. For some, success means achieving a Grade 8 or 9; for others, it may mean progressing several grades, overcoming gaps in their knowledge or finally feeling confident in a subject they have previously struggled with.

My Teaching Approach

My lessons are highly personalised. I take the time to identify each student`s strengths, weaknesses and gaps in understanding before creating a clear plan towards their target grade.

I am particularly focused on making difficult concepts feel simple and approachable. Rather than encouraging students to memorise methods without understanding them, I break topics down step-by-step and ensure they understand the reasoning behind the Mathematics.

Once a strong understanding of the content has been established, we move towards focused exam preparation. This includes past-paper questions, exam technique, identifying common question types, improving problem-solving skills and learning how to approach unfamiliar questions confidently.

I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Building confidence is an important part of my teaching, particularly for students who have developed the belief that they are simply “not good at Maths”.

GCSE Exam Preparation

I have also created my own digital GCSE Mathematics resource based around past examination papers, featuring detailed explanations and fully worked solutions. I use this alongside past-paper practice to help students understand not only what the correct answer is, but how to recognise and approach similar questions independently in their exams.

Whether a student is looking to strengthen their foundations, move up several grades or push from an already strong grade towards an 8 or 9, my lessons are structured around helping them make measurable progress towards their individual goal.
