Melissa

Since graduating university Melissa has worked as private tutor assisting students of a wide variety of ages with mathematics (Algebra - Calculus), chemistry (High school, organic, analytical), and biology (High school, ecology, environmental).

Through sharing her tested knowledge of mathematics and passion for chemistry she is able to help contextualise these fields to make them more tangible and digestible for students struggling with key concepts.

For more advanced students, Melissa is able to share her real world knowledge to help push students to a solid understanding of the less tangible concepts.

Availability: Evenings - after 6pm in Glasgow

Experience: I have a Masters degree from Glasgow University in Marine and Freshwater Ecology and an undergraduate degree in Chemistry. I have worked in a material testing laboratory and a research lab for the University of Washington. After receiving my Masters degree I have worked as a statistician and field biologist before taking my current position as an environmental consultant here in Glasgow.

In addition to my work in the scientific field, I have also worked as a tutor. My experience ranges from one on one private tutoring to small group sessions for larger teaching centers and after school programs which has given me exposure to a wide variety of teaching styles and subjects. I tailor my lessons and teaching style to fit the needs of the students and am willing to work with teachers and parents.

I have experience working with students struggling with learning disabilities, particularity ADHD and Dyslexia.
