I am a fully qualified teacher with over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience within the private and state sectors. I have extended experience working within the governmental schemes ECAW, ECAR, ECAM (Every child A Writer/Reader/Mathematician and have taught and tutored primary, secondary and tertiary aged students. My main disciplines are English, maths and German. I also tutor mature learners in practical subjects such as cooking, baking, arts and craft and am a fully qualified Flying Instructor, providing Ground-School tuition sessions, either one-to-one or for a maximum of three students.

I have a passion for learning and education. I thrive on encouraging others to build and utilise a rich and varied vocabulary as well being creative and individual with language.

I focus on targets with individual students and work towards achieving those targets each session through a range of stimulating activities.

I enjoy learning and am always adding to my skillset and capabilities.

I am a stickler for correct grammar and usage of the English language whilst also encouraging creative flair and personal expression in written prose/creative writing.

I like to encourage my students to be proactive in their learning. I use a variety of tried and tested methods and materials to help each individual jump over hurdles and begin to enjoy learning subjects which have sometimes become bothersome and unenjoyable.

I spent one year living and teaching at a secondary grammar school in Austria. My German is fluent and creative and I am able to assist you in improving your written and spoken German.

I am also a qualified commercial pilot and have experience in tutoring brush-up revision sessions for Private Pilot written exams.

In all academic subjects, I aim to assist you to use and improve you English language usage and mathematical capability for everyday work and employment opportunities and not simply to increase your chances of a better exam grade.

Payment must be made on the day of the tutorial by the end of the tutorial session. The cancellation policy protects my livelihood as a self-employed tutor and requires you to make a 100% payment if you cancel 24 hours or less prior to the arranged tutorial time.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: I tutor an academic hour of 50 minutes, allowing the remaining 10 minutes time after the tutorial for vital feedback and discussion with the parents/guardian about the student`s progress and homework. I will tutor up to a maximum of two students simultaneously of similar age, the fee for which is 1.5 times the hourly rate for that level of tutorial. (see my subjects list for fees).

Tutorials will typically be held in my home, or if you live within 3 miles of me, then I can come to your home. All sessions for under 18s must be accompanied by an adult, regardless of where the tutorial takes place. I have a full CRB/DBS. Mileage is charged at 45p per mile from my base. Please note that the distances shown on Tutorhunt are "as the crow flies" and do not accurately reflect the actual distance by road.

Upon commencing tutorials, both the client and the tutor will sign a tutoring agreement for which I require a deposit of one standard hour`s tutorial, returnable upon termination of tutorials.

I operate within HMRC guidelines for mileage.
