I believe that every child is an individual and for this reason I always carry out an initial assessment and consultation in order to build up a picture of their needs and recommend a suitable course of action. The consultation allows us to discuss any particular concerns you may have before committing to lessons.

Most lessons are structured in a similar way to those at school; starting with front of class teaching followed by students working individually through worksheets. We also have some informal lessons where they are able to work through exam papers and revision sheets at their own pace with help from the teacher.

I believe homework to be an important part of the learning process; helping to consolidate classwork. Homework is given every week and collected the following lesson for marking. Eleven plus students also have access to an online system, which gives them access to unlimited practice questions and mock exams.

Students are usually taught in small groups of 8 to 12. They are grouped according to age and ability.

Classes are priced at £18 per hour for GCSE maths with students attending a 1 hour class once a week. For eleven plus preparation students attend a 1 hour 30min class once a week priced at £25 per class.

I provide all materials including exercise books, worksheets and exam papers. I also offer an out of hours service to all GCSE students. They are able to contact me via phone with any questions they have regarding tuition or school work.

Availability: I offer tuition in small groups on Sunday afternoons and weekday evenings.

Experience: I am a former secondary school teacher and have been tutoring for over 15 years, teaching both secondary and primary students. On average my GCSE students improve by 2 grades. On the old grading system I have helped students move from a D grade on the foundation tier to a B grade on the higher tier. With a background in mathematics I am well equipped to teach the new syllabus. I have also helped numerous students gain places at grammar school including King Edwards Camp Hill and secure scholarships for private school.
