Information about Aliyna

 As an AQA Examiner I understand the amount of pressure student are undergoing during the exam period to achieve their full potential.

What I can offer:

Commitment: I am committed to my work and also my students work. I understand the responsibility that lies in the hands of a teacher is huge, and therefore I am able to take my position more seriously as well as professionally.

 Organisation: I have always planned my teaching sessions well before each of my lessons to establish differentiation of students and to make sure all students’ needs are catered to. I have also organised my own SOW by using the exam board (AQA) specification.

 Tolerance: Education is becoming increasingly diverse and a multicultural society, I believe it is necessary for me to manage any prejudices amongst my students and to make all students feel that they are all equal. I do not impose my world view on to students, instead I openly discuss topics and let students decide themselves as psychology can touch upon some personal topics towards students (attachment, psychopathology or social psychology)

 Assessment: During each session I believe it is crucial to assess students’ progress. The assessments tells me who has understood the information who may need further support. I have a range of assessment techniques, by observing, Q&A, feedback, mind maps, practice exam questions and group work.

 Learning Styles: As a teacher I have learnt that students have different learning styles and therefore in each session I implement different learning style tactics, such as video clips, smart board use, mind maps, group work, researching and using the white board for feedback answers.

 Tech Enthusiast: I enjoy using technology and believe all teachers of today need to explore all new technology. The modern world demands the use of technology in society today and students need support in becoming familiar with technology, and therefore I use any opportunity to implement ICT into the classroom.

 One to One: I am able to provide one to one session or small group sessions with students who require further support with their work. I find that smaller group sessions helps them to feel less anxious in asking questions and more confident in answering questions. Students tend to doubt themselves and I would like to take this doubt away by providing the extra support.

 Personal Tutor: I believe if you are a teacher you are the student’s role model, and therefore students will look up to the teacher. By providing support to students who maybe struggling, not academically but within their personal life. However, I do believe that there is a fine line to what support a teacher can give and therefore if it goes over this line I am more than happy to direct the student to either the school counsellor, mentor, nurse or head of year.

Experience: I have taught Psychology and sociology at A level
KS3 - English, Maths, Science, Religious Studies and History.

During my time as a social science (psychology and sociology) and KS3 teacher I am able to set high expectations which inspired, motivated and challenged pupils by implementing different learning styles and activities within their learning environments.

I am able to promote good progress and outcomes by pupils as I had a good understanding of pupils’ capabilities and their prior knowledge, and I plan my lessons provided on the pupils strengths and work through their weaknesses. I am also able to encourage pupils to take responsibility and conscientious attitude to their own studies.

I am able to manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment for all students. I d0 this by having clear rules and routines within the learning environment and I take responsibility for promoting good and courteous behaviour due to building a positive relationship with pupils. By having a positive relationships I am able to exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary.

As a teacher I always demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct. I do this by treating pupils with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect, and at all times observing proper boundaries appropriate to a teacher’s professional position. I also have regard for the need to safeguard pupils’ well-being, in accordance with statutory provisions and finally by showing tolerance of and respect for the rights of others and not undermining fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
