Information about Seren
In Summer 2014, I grаduаted with a 1st class honours Degree in Mathematics & Financial Management BSc from Loughborough University.
Maths has always been my strongest passion, and I believe when passion is evident the impact of influence is heightened, and in return encourages participation and an eagerness to succeed. I also have a passion for encouraging positivity, as I believe enthusiasm and drive are as vital to achievement as acquisition of knowledge and skills. During the critical developmental years of students aged 11 to 18, I see an opportunity to build their confidence, relieve any Math anxiety and prepare them for their futures in the wider world where life revolves around Mathematical Sciences.
I am a reliable, hardworking and friendly individual!
With lots of experience working and teaching children and young adults, I do not have one set teaching method but instead I believe in finding the best and most suitable approach for each individual in order to reach the best results as everyone interacts, responds and learns differently.
A world without Mathematics would be a world without astronomy, the pyramids or rubix cubes: an
uninspiring and far less captivating place to be.
Availability: Weekdays after 6.00pm. Although I can be flexible for weekends in advance.
I will also be offering the 1st lesson at no charge for myself to see where the student is at in the learning process and for the student to discover if they like my teaching style and if they would like me as their tutor.
I am willing to travel up to a suitable distance if the student would prefer to work at home. However, I am also able to tutor at my home if this is convenient on particular days. To note, I work in North London and live South London.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: I have Teaching experience in both Primary and Secondary schools.
I have been teaching in 3 different schools in Paris, France for the last 8 months and have been a teaching assistant in over 5 different schools in the past few years during Math lessons alongside my degree.
I have worked with a range of ages from children as young as 4 teaching English to 18 year olds teaching Mathematics. I have also specialised in the inclusive supervision for children/adults with varying special needs where this multi-faceted role required high levels of patience and negotiation skills, as campers would often not want to participate.
Finally, I have worked for a student outreach programme and again specialised in Maths helping young adults from a range of backgrounds realise their potential.
