Information about Jaymi
I am an undergraduate at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, currently in my penultimate year of study. I have a genuine interest in education, a passion for teaching and a wide range of experience. Having completed a BSc in Medical Education, teaching is an area I would like to pursue alongside my medical career.
Learning and reflecting back on my educational experiences to date, I have learnt that in addition to delivering high quality education, an important role of educator is to empower learners to think for themselves and guide them on their journey to find the skills they need. I would like to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with my students, in the hope to attentively guide and support others through difficult transitions during their education.
Availability: I am available in Brighton most weekday evenings and weekends during university term-time.
During Christmas and Summer holidays I will be based in the West Midlands (DY6).
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: I am involved in a scheme set up at my medical school to teach my peers. This entails tailoring each session, with the aim to overcome areas they are struggling with, clinically and academically, whilst also helping them with exam preparation. I am also part of various student-led peer education networks set up to educate the youth in the local community on health education.
During completing my degree in medical education, I successfully assisted in teaching in symposiums and led teaching on various modules within the medical curriculum. Furthermore, I gained experience in devising lesson plans over the course of the year.
In the past I have tutored A-level and GSCE chemistry and biology, after achieving high grades in both these subjects.
Using my past experiences in education, I have learnt an abundance of techniques to make learning imaginative and engaging, and have built up a variety of teaching resources. I hope to deliver sessions which are unique to my students and meet their educational goals.
