Information about Cristina
Cristina is a professional harpist and harp teacher based in Tooting, London. She graduated from the Royal College of Music (MMus in Advanced Performance) in 2011 with Distinction and has been former principal harpist at the Opera and Ballet Theatre in Zagreb from 2013 to 2017. She has performed as an orchestral player in several orchestras (including La Scala of Milan, Filarmonica of la Scala, SNG Opera in Ljubljana and Maribor, Festival Puccini) under the baton of conductors such as M° Riccardo Chailly, Bernard Haitink, Lorin Maazel and Zubin Mehta. She is the prizewinner of several national and international contests and has performed as a soloist and chamber player in various concert seasons in England and abroad. Her recordings have been broadcast on BBC 3, Rai 5, HRT and Radio Vaticana.
Cristina has been a harp teacher since 2013 and she currently runs a thriving private teaching studio with over 15 pupils. Most of them enter ABRSM exams achieving high merit and distinction and successfully audition for the National Children’s Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra and the LSSO.
In recent years she has been a harp teacher at Queen Anne`s School, Reading and at a specialist music school C. Percoto in Italy. She teaches classical music to all levels, beginners to advanced, including preparation for orchestral training. Lessons will cover postural awarness, technique excercises, sight-reading, music expression and performance practice.
Cristina is a dedicated and responsible person, passionate about music, reading, travelling and the human mind - besides her music experience she has got a MSc in Cognitive Psychology (Music, Mind and Brain). She strongly believes in music education and in sharing her passion for music!
Availability: Morning to evening, week days and weekends, availability depends on each day.
Lessons are usually held at Cristina`s house, but visiting lessons can be arranged if convenient
(travel expenses will be added according to distance).

I have had a few lessons with Cristina so far and it has been amazing! Cristina is so patient, kind and encouraging. She really ensures attention to detail with technique. Cristina has helped me with learning to play, but also with tuning, changing strings and reading music. She is flexible with times too. I am so pleased I have started my harp journey with Cristina and look forward to many more lessons.

I have had 5 sessions with Cristina so far. All online because of the current lockdown situation. Even though our sessions are virtual, I am able to understand her teaching and instructions. She’s encouraging, patient and really friendly. Also, I’m 27 so it’s never too late to start learning a new instrument! I would highly recommend Cristina as a harp tutor – I always look forward to our sessions.

I`ve had two lessons with Cristina so far and I find her to be an excellent teacher. She`s very patient, explains things clearly and gives really easy to follow demonstrations. She`s been really good at tailoring things to my rate of progression so far too.
