As someone who had struggled in school and became somewhat of a late bloomer at college and university, I understand the importance of having one to one help and being pushed to fulfil your true potential. After many struggles throughout Primary and Secondary school, as well as college, I have gone on to graduate in Education Studies with First Class Honours, which has given me a profound understanding of learning processes and my experience working as a student mentor has also provided me with key skills needed for tutoring students. Currently undertaking an MA in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching at Nottingham University, I have grasped a deeper knowledge and understanding of the Language and strongly believe it to be the foundation of learning. A greater understanding and wider skill set in English will allow you to succeed in many areas of life and crucially, to excel academically.
I am a very easy going and encouraging person who loves to help others. I have a genuine passion for English Language in particular, while I also have theoretical and practical skills and knowledge in graphic design and film studies.
As mentioned, I am not all about specific subjects, and throughout my degree I learned about the importance of the process of learning and understanding, which is the key to getting the most out of education. Everyone works in different ways and I personally enjoy working with a pupil to find out what their strengths and weaknesses are in order to work around them and get the best out of the student.
Whether it`s improving on grammar, writing style, how to prepare for an assignment or approach essays, etc, I will be happy to help! I can also help with college/university/job applications and also work on one of the most important elements about yourself - confidence in your own academic ability. This is the key to unlocking your true potential and something that is sometimes ignored.
Do not hesitate to contact me, I will be happy to discuss any of your needs and will do everything I can to help you succeed in education.

Experience: Second and third year of University studying Education: Two units (Work with children and young people (year 2), Curriculum project (year 3), required me to do a placement focused on mentoring students which provided me with practical, hands-on experience in the educational environment. I was given the freedom to carry out my placement in the way I thought best and the feedback from my corresponding coursework and reports are evidence that I had succeeded in providing effective mentoring, in addition to showing self awareness of my own actions and practices as I had analysed and evaluated my experiences in depth.
Duties included motivating students, offering support and guidance. Assessing current skill levels and setting realistic targets and frequently monitoring progress of students knowledge, understanding and achievements throughout the academic year. Also making plan of action on specific areas of improvement such as improving grammar, proof-reading, planning and working on assignments effectively etc.

Harvy tutored my twin boys for the last 3/4 months leading up to their GCSEs.
He took the time to get to know them, chatted with them about confidence issues and worked out where they needed help and how to help them. They both got good passes at GCSE, he definitely boosted their results and made the difference. He also put himself out during the exam period to have revision sessions with them at a reduced cost. Highly recommended!
