I am a very experienced, qualified, friendly and enthusiastic tutor of Maths and Further Maths.

I graduated from Oxford University, and hold a Masters degree from there, and was also a post graduate at Cambridge University. I am a qualified teacher, with QTLS.

At the beginning of each lesson I always discuss with the student what they would like to achieve. In addition, I ensure areas for improvement are targeted and make sure that the student is confident in all areas of the syllabus as they approach exams. I am a calm and patient person with high standards and expectations of my students. I am always happy to discuss with parents how their child is progressing.

I believe that tutoring is a great way for students to reinforce their current teaching at school and to rigorously prepare for exams. It is essential that students have a firm understanding of the basics of a subject sometimes this can be missed at school and so they then struggle to grasp more complex concepts. My approach of breaking a problem down into a series of logical and methodical steps, progressing at a student-led pace ensures a thorough and lasting understanding of the topic. Many of the parents of my students comment on how the tutoring has significantly boosted their son/ daughter`s confidence in a subject. When approaching an exam I use plenty of past papers to provide lots of practice and prepare students for the style of questions they can expect from their particular exam board.

I offer a free initial consultation to discuss a students background, requirements and aspirations, and to jointly develop a personalised plan to maximise the benefit of the tuition.

Availability:

For September 2016 I now only have after school availability on a Monday and alternate Wednesdays. I also some daytime availability on Mondays and Fridays which may suit students who can get to me during their free periods. Please get in touch if this could be possible.

Experience: My recent teaching experience is at A level at one of Trafford`s top Grammar schools, where I was also the Oxbridge coordinator. I have previously taught at degree level.

My extensive tutoring experience over more than 10 years means that I am familiar with the requirements of all the major exam boards. I have worked for one board as an examiner, involved in writing exam questions, marking papers and finalising grade boundaries so I am very familiar with the exam techniques required to gain top grades.

In addition to my A level work I have tutored many students preparing them for the Oxford Maths and Physics entrance tests (MAT and PAT). I would recommend Cambridge applicants also use these for preparation their interviews. I have a large resource of practice interview questions and can help students develop strategies to confidently approach the most daunting problems.

I am based in south Warrington, and I do my tutoring from my home where I have a dedicated tutoring room and plenty of resources to hand.
