Information about Jessica

Hello, my name is Jessica. I am a qualified Primary School teacher with QTS. I have seven years classroom based teaching experience. I have taught several year groups throughout my teaching career. I have also taught small groups where teaching was planned and tailored for the groups’ learning style, making it interactive and engaging. I believe that learning best takes place when the experience is enjoyable, engaging and practical. I have the ability to adapt the learning and to close learning gaps to suit individual students prior to moving the student forward.
From my own personal experiences with tutors being involved throughout primary and secondary, the best tutors are patient, engaging and encouraging; all these qualities that I can bring to every student that I tutor.

I specialise in Primary English, Maths and Science

Experience: I have completed my PGCE with QTS at Middlesex University, London in 2014. Prior to my PGCE I have worked at various schools in London to gain further classroom based experience. I have also volunteered to teach and support Gujarati at the local temple for a number of year after I had completed my GCSE`s. I completed a GCSE in Gujarati where I had been studying to read and write the language alongside studying the GCSE`s provided at school, as an extra subject. Teaching Gujarati at the temple taught me valuable skills. This supported my ability to plan lessons of all ages (classes were grouped through levels rather than age). This also taught me and gave me the strength to manage behaviour of all ages within one class, ranging from 5-10 years. Supporting pupils with SEN was key to ensure learning took place and extra support was provided to those who required visual resources in order to support the learning.

I hold 7 years` teaching classroom experience of primary age. I have taught at various schools in London and Hertfordshire. I have also worked as a Teaching Assistant prior to complete competing my PGCE to give me the best insight and to learn essential skills such as team building, organisation skills, communication skills, management of people of all ages, multitasking skills, being adaptable to quick changes whilst remaining professional, decision making and problem solving. I have worked with various students with a range of learning styles, SEN students, EAL students and students of diverse backgrounds.

I have experience of Online Tutoring. My classroom based experiences were valuable whilst tutoring online. Time management to ensure the students` worksheets were marked prior to the next face to face tutoring session, remaining organised, remaining professional, assessing learning and providing applicable feedback.

I have experience of Teaching Yoga to adults voluntarily. My teaching experiences were valuable whilst teaching adults. Remaining patient, time management, planning each session to ensure the adults remain engaged to a well-defined sequence and clear and concise oral communication.
