Information about Wendy
Having been made redundant from a senior training role, I have continued to enjoy my passion for supporting learners through private tuition work.
I have a wealth of experience supporting learners of all ages including many with dyslexia.
My most recent accomplishment was supporting a philosophy graduate with dyslexia, who needed support with English grammar, punctuation and vocabulary in order to pass a university entrance exam to become a teacher himself.
I provided stimulating and interesting ways of developing these areas and we both enjoyed the learning sessions immensely.
I was thrilled to hear last week that he was successful and is now looking forward to starting his PGCE course in September.
I have now moved on to supporting a learner with anatomy and physiology so he can become a fitness instructor, and two 9 year olds who want to develop their Maths and English over the summer holidays.
I am a professional, caring and patient tutor and believe that being positive and supportive can lead to achieving great results.
I always see the positive and the potential in a learner and always work hard to develop their skills changing my approach to accommodate their different learning styles.
My passion lies within the learning environment and I believe that learning can be fun and that there is nothing better than witnessing that "light bulb" moment!
Although I was a senior training manager I always preferred being in the classroom, especially with a new basic skills course when seeing each individual develop in knowledge and skills was so rewarding and worthwhile.
Availability: I am available in the day time including weekends.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: Having been a tutor within a medical and clinical environment for 5 years, I went on to become a Senior Training Manager within the same field and for the same large company for the following eight years.
I hold a Certificate in Mentoring from Greenwich University which I gained through supporting my different team members in their own development and personal educational courses such as the PGCE and PTLLS.
Although my most recent experience is within the clinical learning environment I have an excellent command of the English language and grammar and can also support and develop the learner in this area.
I am very experienced in computer programmes such as Word and PowerPoint and am also experienced in Excel.
I hold an Institute of Health Care and Development Instructor qualification and am also a qualified nurse.
I am able to work alongside all levels of learner and also all age groups. I have had the pleasure of working with teenagers and those who have taken early retirement in another role and who have started again looking for a new challenge.
I have a passion for art and drawing and was so proud to have the sketches I had completed for exam level displayed around the school foyer! My recent artistic development has been within the watercolour genre. I do not think that the learning ethos can ever be erased and sometimes find myself supporting other colleagues in the group!
