Information about Lisa

I qualified as a primary school teacher in 2004 and have taught in a local primary school ever since. I like to make learning fun, whilst still having an end goal in mind. I have been tutoring for a few months now and find it really rewarding. Being able to plan a bespoke session according to a child`s needs mean that so much learning can take place each week. Helping children have faith in their own abilities and have the confidence to then apply their skills back in their classroom is at the heart of what I do.

Availability: I am currently available on a Tuesday from 4.30 - 6.00pm and on a Saturday. I am in the process of setting up a tutoring centre in Leyland, where children can be brought and left for their hour session. I offer tutoring in a small group of up to four children. Small group tutoring has many benefits:
- a shared sense of purpose so sessions are focussed and productive and good behaviour for learning is modelled.
- the reassurance that they are not the only child that requires extra support in their learning and do not feel isolated.
- children do not become over reliant on one to one support. They receive a productive mix of one to one time and independent task time. This means the skills learnt will transfer easier into a classroom situation.

One to one tutoring may be available on request if preferred.

Experience: I have taught from year 1 through to year 6 and currently teach part time in year 5. I am also the school special educational needs coordinator so have vast experience in identifying children`s needs, planning interventions, seeing them through and measuring the impact of them. I have helped prepare children for end of KS1/ KS2 SATs tests helped boost children`s confidence, developed their English and Maths skills and prepared them for transition to a new class/ school.
