Information about Eugene
I grew up in Edinburgh, and am a Master of Mechanical Engineering graduate from Imperial College London.
I maintain a friendly and comfortable ambiance in the classroom, but also expect participation from all students. As long as the student wants to learn, I will put 100% effort into my teaching.
My lessons are structured from the following three elements:
1) Review and preview
A fundamental ingredient for good retention is repeated exposure. Every lessons starts with a review of recently covered concepts, and ends with a preview of the next subject on the syllabus.
2) Conceptual understanding
The interesting part. Many students, even at university level, do not understand why they study the concepts on their syllabus, a problem that grows as the concepts become increasingly complex and abstract. I help student relate their course material and problems to real life applications which will both improve their ability to apply and learn the concepts, and also makes subjects much more engaging and relevant.
3) Practice Questions
I expose students to a wide variety of practice questions with detailed explanations and feedback. This allows students to improve their exam technique and identify areas for improvement.
Lesson duration depends on student preference and how long it takes me to travel there, with a minimum of 40 min.
Availability: My timetable is flexible, and both individual and small group lessons are offered
Willing to travel: 1 miles
Experience: Tutored both small classes and individual lessons at private residential colleges during my final year of university. My strengths are engineering mathematics and physics. I have taught and applied many of the mathematical or physical concepts for engineering projects. Therefore, I can help students not only by teaching them how to solve problems, but also allowing them to relate the theory to real life problems.
