Experience: I taught Maths and Music key stage 3, GCSE and A Level for 15 years in state comprehensives and also Further Maths A Level. I then taught for 17 years in independent sixth form colleges and was also Head of UCAS in the one sixth form college for 8 years. I have vast experience of teaching GCSE both Foundation and Higher and all branches of A Level Maths and Further Maths including Pure Maths, Mechanics, Statistics and Decision Maths. I have taught C1, C2, C3, C4, FP1, FP2, FP3, S1, S2, M1, M2 and Additional Further Maths M3 and M4. In addition I am familiar with the new specification, having taught the entire new A Level Pure Mathematics 1, Pure Mathematics 2 and Statistics and Mechanics last academic year as a One Year intensive A Level course to a Lower Sixth Further Mathematics group. I have also written a guide to using the Casio fx 991 Classwiz as normal distribution tables are no longer provided. A significant proportion of my students gained high grades at GCSE and A and A* grades for both Maths and Further Maths: nearly all the students gained these top grades in 2010 and 2012. I was an examiner for Edexcel A Level Pure Mathematics for two years. I provide fully comprehensive and very carefully structured notes in order of difficulty, that I pride myself are easy to follow, as both printouts and PDFs as I do not believe that copying notes in lessons is an effective use of time. I judiciously select appropriate examination questions and textbook exercises in order to allow students plenty of time in lessons to assimilate first basic then more complex techniques and apply them to a wide range of problems in order for them to gain confidence. There is nothing more rewarding than helping students understand complex techniques to gain the highest grades and enable them to progress onto competitive university courses.
