My name is Richard and I live in South Warrington. I have a friendly approach to tutoring and pride myself on being able to build good working relationships with my students. this enables me to provide them with an environment that enhances their grade potential. I have an excellent track record with my students and recently helped students secure the qualifications they needed to go on and study medicine and veterinary sciences at the University of Liverpool. Other students I have taught have gone on to study Pharmacy and various Chemistry courses at other Russell group universities. This year at A level the year 13’s I tutored achieved A’s and B’s. This was a significant improvement on mock examination data achieved in January which was in the C/D grade range. All students achieved places at Russel group universities with those who applied having successful medical applications.

I have an excellent subject knowledge coupled with the ability to communicate it at a level that helps students progress in their learning. This is a skill I have honed over the course of my career. My sessions will usually centre around a topic selected by the student which they need to develop. I assess their competency using the programme of study and then address the identified areas using resources I have developed over the course of my career. I will then leave exam style questions for the student to consolidate their learning which we review the following session. Where necessary I can tailor this approach to suit more specific needs of individuals.

Availability: I am available most evenings and weekends and have a flexible approach to scheduling appointments. When necessary I can schedule extended sessions and can conduct remote online tuition also. If interested I can offer transition courses to consolidate knowledge needed for A-level Chemistry giving students a head start to their KS5 studies.

I teach in the north of Warrington, so I am open to appointments in and around the area and anywhere along the M62 Corridor straight after school hours most days.

Experience: I have previously taught in an inner-city Liverpool Secondary School for 16 years and have held various positions such as Head of Science and Head of KS5 Science. I was the lead Chemistry teacher in the department and have 11 years’ experience teaching A-level Chemistry and GCSE Chemistry/Science for 20 years. I currently teach at a school in the north of Warrington where I am the head of Chemistry/2nd in department. I have a B.Sc (hons) degree in Chemistry with Pharmacology from the University of Liverpool and hold a PGCE in Secondary Science. Being a practicing teacher, I have a full CRB/DBS check. I am an examiner for AQA and have experience of moderation and exam marking at team leader level.

I currently deliver and tutor the AQA specifications in GCSE Science, and tutored the AQA, Pearson and OCR A-level Chemistry specifications. I have also in the past delivered courses provided by Edexcel and OCR. Due to my role in school I have played a major role developing these courses. This gives me an excellent understanding of the assessment criteria which students will need to meet in their examinations. I am currently an Examiner for AQA GCSE Chemistry paper 2.
