Information about Deborah

Hi there! I’m Deborah. I did my A-levels last year, so I`m in my second gap year now, which means I`m also in my second year of tutoring. I plan on studying Psychology at university and am deeply passionate about it.

Psychology has been my favourite subject for a few years now, and to support my GCSE and A-levels, I’ve read extensively around the subject. I studied with OCR at GCSE and AQA at A-level- the topics were very similar despite the different exam boards. I know the subject well and can look over the topics for the exam board my students are with. Being fresh out of school also serves as an advantage as I have recent exam experience and knowledge of the subject.

My aim is for my students to enjoy my lessons and to inspire a passion within them, so that they are able to get the grades they want without it feeling like a chore, whilst also to opening them up to a new understanding of the world.
Understanding why people behave the way they do is a valuable skill to have; it helps the individual understand themselves and society better. I look forward to teaching it.

Experience: In 2019 I worked with IHEART, an organisation that aims to help children become resilient. I partook in teaching the course to a class of secondary school students, and gained valuable information about how to do that so that it’s interesting and impactful.

Last year- June 2021- I wrote a booklet for a course about the growth mindset for children and parents to read. It included a range of information about things that can affect a child, from a poor growth mindset, to attachment and the effects of the media. My aim whilst creating this booklet what to help encourage stable relationships between parents and children, and happier home environments. In a world where rates of anxiety and depression are rapidly increasing, awareness of how parents can try to protect their children can be useful. That booklet is currently publicised on the Hertstuition website.

Since September 2022, I have been teaching Psychology, English and Maths in group sessions as well as 1:1.
