Information about Rustin

Do you want fulfil your potential and maximise your understanding in maths and physics?

I want to help you achieve your dream A*, your Oxbridge place, and along the way give you a deeper understanding of the maths and physics underpinning the modern world.

I am a master of Physics graduate from St John’s College Oxford, currently in the third year of my doctoral studies in the Quantum Sensors and Metrology Hub at University of Birmingham. My current research is using quantum mechanics to measure gravity at unprecedented accuracy and I’ve previously worked on Ion Trap quantum computing. I use advance concepts in maths and physics in the lab every single day and will share this knowledge and perspective with you.

I have supported maths and physics students for the last 7 years and am familiar with the GCSE and A level specifications for all major exam boards. I have 2 years experience as an assessment specialist (examiner) for OCR, marking over 400 exam papers from the GCSE 21st century science P7 module.

I have 6 years of experience preparing physics and engineering students for the Oxbridge admissions process. I provide support for the physics aptitude test (PAT), conduct mock interviews based on a repository of past tutees real interviews, and provide thorough preparation for these interviews. I can offer advice on personal statement writing and choosing your college.

I have delivered lectures and one-to-one tutorials on advanced topics including Quantum Mechanics, Special Relativity, and Advanced Classical Mechanics in a summer school format and I can push your knowledge far beyond the syllabus.

Subjects offered:
Maths, Further Maths, Physics: GCSE and A level
Oxford Physics and Engineering admissions: Physics Aptitude Test (PAT) Preparation; Interview preparation and mock interviews based on former tutees questions.

Availability: Evenings Monday to Thursday. My research schedule is flexible so do get in touch if you are interested in other times.
