Information about Eleanor
Oxford educated History teacher, with over a decade of experience working in UK secondary schools. I am currently a Senior Leader in Teaching & Learning, and relish any opportunity to develop students` passion for education, particularly in History.
I graduated from Oxford University in 2015 with a BA in History, and the love for teaching that I developed while tutoring at university drove me to complete my PGCE in 2016. Since then, I have worked in a London secondary school, as both Head of History and as Assistant Principal. I teach History to students from Year 7 to Year 13, as well as working to develop teaching practice across the whole school. My students have consistently achieved outstanding results, including departmental progress scores of +0.98, putting us in the top 2% of departments nationally.
I am also a firm believer in the important role of educators in supporting our students mental health. To this end, I am trained as a mindfulness teacher through the Mindfulness in Schools Programme, and can deliver their .b curriculum.
In my spare time, I enjoy getting out in nature, walking and horse riding, as well as spending time with my young family.

Experience: Teaching experience:
I began working as a tutor, both for GCSE students and for Primary students preparing for the 11+ exam, whilst studying for my A-Levels. Whilst at university, I worked with the Schools Plus programme, providing History tutoring to disadvantaged secondary school students.
Since graduating, I have worked for 9 years in a London secondary school, primarily as a History teacher. I have taught classes from all secondary age groups and prior attainment levels, with consistently strong results. I also worked as Network Lead for History, and as Head of Department in the school, meaning that I contributed significantly to the History curriculum of not just my own school, but the whole network.
I also worked to establish the school`s Sixth Form, including assisting students with University applications. I am very proud that the school`s first Oxbridge offer was received in History and Politics, by one of my students.
My current role as Assistant Principal involves leading on the development of teaching practice across the school, as well as continuing to teach History to all Key Stages. This means that I keep myself up-to-date with the most recent insights into what great teaching looks like, and can apply this to my work as a tutor.
