My name is Mike and I have a wide and varied experience in the biological professions and teaching.

My experience in the biological sciences includes research work into the nature of plant genetic resistance to viral disease, the nature of protein markers used to diagnose some forms of cancer and a period investigating biological aspects of conventional plastic surgery.

As a teacher I engaged well with students of all ages and was popular with the pupils. Students achieved highly under my guidance, frequently achieving results above expectation as measured by `raise on line`and other school data.

Lessons observations were typically measured as good or outstanding during my career.

My approach in supporting students during tuition is to develop their confidence and examination technique through question practice, analysis and feedback.

Although I do not offer the first lesson free it will last more than an hour. This is partly to assess the specific needs of the student and to identify curriculum areas that need development.

Availability: I am generally available between 10am and 8pm during the week. I will consider working during Saturday mornings under special circumstances and during the lead up towards examinations.

Experience: I am an experienced and successful teacher who has just retired from the profession after 25 years.
I have worked in schools in Leeds, Bradford N Yorkshire and London. During this time I have taught across the science curriculum although my main field is in biology.
I have taught biology to GCSE and GCE A level following AQA and OCR boards.
