Hello, my name is Jordan, an Oxford Graduate and professional tutor of 10 years with a wealth of tutoring and academic experience.
Teaching Style:
My approach to tutoring is efficient, succinct but also enjoyable. Dealing with topics such as poetry and Shakespeare can be very frustrating and so I aim to make these works as approachable as possible. As the student gains more confidence I will push them further with clear, target based learning. This ensures that they are never left in limbo where their ability and knowledge do not advance.
Having attained the highest grades at all academic stages, and a decade of one-to-one tutoring experience, I have a wealth of knowledge to share that can help any student achieve their targets.
Services:
The subjects I offer can be found elsewhere on this page. However, I offer two other services:
- 11+ Entrance exams, specialising in English
- Oxbridge entrance exam skills, such as essay writing, interview and test skills.
First lesson:
My first lesson is a free 30 minute `get to know you session`, where I will assess your child`s needs, introduce myself and my teaching style before finally deciding the best direction to take.

- A decade of one-to-one and small class tutoring experience.
- Examiner role for a variety of local students.
- I am extremely familiar with every text and subject on each syllabus, and have taught them for many years at different levels.
- Teaching experience with students who have special educational needs such as Aspergers and Dyslexia.

Nice guy but just talked at my son and didn`t check for understanding and recall. No real impact sadly.

Hi Louise,
I find this review very harsh and unfair. As an experienced tutor, I always follow the teaching cycle. This involves planning then explaining the topic, assessing the student through writing practice answers and recall tests, before evaluating and starting again. As you were never in my lessons personally, I can understand you not being aware of this. Your breakdown of my lessons is therefore factually incorrect. Lessons during half terms and other holidays would have been beneficial to make sure your son stayed on track but unfortunately he always had that time off. Tuition can be a powerful tool but it hinges on the effort and commitment of the student - at GCSE level independent revision is also required, and this is something we know your son struggled with.
It saddens me to find that you are disappointed in your son’s results, but as you can see by my many 5 star reviews, I am a very accomplished tutor and did everything I could for your son. If you had found that he was not engaging with our sessions, I wish you would have spoken to me about it at the time and not posted an overly negative review a year and a half after we had stopped working together.

We went to Jordan for a short series of lessons to prepare our son for an English Language resit exam; the first exam being only about a month after we first engaged him. He was very helpful in offering a range of options for scheduling lessons and also offered lessons during the half term holiday. Our son got on very well with Jordan and found the lessons really useful; his confidence improved and focusing on exam technique filled a lot of the gaps left by the various lockdowns from the previous school year. I also received useful feedback at the end of each session, which was reassuring. We don`t have results yet but at least our son now feels that the exams went well and that he was prepared.
